Filters

Click Filter above the numbers to narrow the whole report (numbers, chart, tables, the heatmap and the CSV export) to the queries, pages, countries or devices you care about.

1. Pick a dimension: Query, Page, Country (a 3-letter code such as usa) or Device (mobile, desktop, tablet).
2. Pick how to match: contains, does not contain, is, starts with or ends with. Matching ignores capital letters.
3. Type a value. For queries and pages a preview shows how many of your top 500 match and the first few, with the match highlighted.
4. Apply filter, or Add another (Shift+Enter) to stack several and apply them together. Enter applies.

Every condition you add must match (AND), unless you put it in a group (below). The active conditions show as chips above the numbers; click the x on a chip to remove it, or Clear all. Clicking a row in a table still adds an exact filter chip as before.

Groups: this OR that. To say “either of these”, press + Any-of group (OR) in the builder and add the conditions that belong in it. The group matches when at least one of them does. + All-of group (AND) makes a group that needs all of its conditions, which helps inside an any-of group. Example: pages that start with /blog/, AND (queries that contain “boots” OR queries that contain “tent”).

• Under the tree the builder says where the next condition goes (Adding to the top level, or Adding to the any-of group). Press Add here on a group to send the next ones into it, or Add to the top level instead to go back.
• Switch a group between All of and Any of at any time; its × removes the group with everything in it.
• Groups nest three levels deep, with at most 8 conditions and 6 groups in all. A group of one condition becomes that condition, a group inside a group of the same kind merges into it, and empty groups are dropped when you apply.
• A group shows as one chip, for example ANY OF Queries containing “boots” OR Queries containing “tent”; its × removes the whole group. Saved filters and saved views keep groups too.
• A group can mix query and page conditions. The tables then read the page and query pairs we keep for 90 days (see the end of this page).

Country and device conditions narrow the totals, the chart and the country and device lists. The query and page tables are not split by country or device, and a country or device condition cannot be combined with a query, page, brand or content-group filter yet. Picking a table row drops them. Country and device conditions can be grouped with each other, for example country is usa OR device is mobile, but not with query or page ones.

Regular expressions are not available yet: we do not run patterns we cannot check are safe.

Filters work on Free. Suggested filters, saved filters and saved views are Pro. With a query or page filter on, totals leave out anonymized queries (why). Page and query pairs are kept for 90 days, so a table that needs both (a page filter on queries, say, or an OR group that mixes queries and pages) covers the last 90 days.
