Your site total in Google Search Console includes clicks that are not attributed to any query. Google leaves out rare searches from query reports to protect the privacy of the people who typed them. The clicks still happened, so they count in your totals, but you cannot see which search they came from.

That is why, when you add up the clicks in the Queries table, you get a little less than the Clicks number at the top of the page.

When the gap shows up

  • The number cards and the chart include the hidden clicks. They match what you see in Search Console.
  • The Queries and Pages tables only contain what can be attributed, so they add up to less than the total.
  • If you click a query or page to filter, the totals also leave out the hidden clicks, because they cannot be matched to your filter. Filtered totals then equal what the lists add up to.
  • The Countries & devices tab always covers the whole site, hidden clicks included.

This does not change CTR or position. Hidden clicks and impressions are in the same proportion as the rest, so those two numbers stay about the same.
